The Westcott Journals

An Excerpt From P.E. Whyborne's Journal

10-June-1921

I’ve spent the better part of my free time since returning from New Haven with the Westcott documents. Among all the notes and journals, we seem to have mostly complete copies of three of his works: The Occult Power of Numbers, A Lecture To Inquirers Into Theosophy And Practical Occultism, and The Origin of the Rosicrucians and Freemasons – although the last is the most incomplete. Perhaps the greatest find are his notes on translating the Sefer Yetzirah. His mastery of Hebrew is impressive – and his notes lead me to believe he might have possessed a complete copy of the Book of Formation to work from. How exciting!

I’ll confess that I do not have the necessary background to fully understand what he’s written, but I expect this will be excellent material for the Society’s libraries.

Comments

Probably should have posted this before the last journal entry. Getting my dates out of order when going back through Whyborne’s journal.

Also, this is totally a flavor thing – I think I’ve spoken to Keepers about the books and they’re just background noise.

Don’t worry about that. Any in character logs are a good thing.
